On Monday, Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, congratulated Ivan Petrovych Mayakov, Veteran of the Great Patriotic War and Labour Veteran, on the 100th Anniversary

who participated in the war as engineer and flight mechanic of assault aviation
division and received 7 battle orders including the Order of Lenin and the
Order of Red Flag dwelled upon his life.
I.Mayakov stated that sports and optimism helped him to survive in the war and keep fit.
"I was impressed by the cheerfulness, optimism, memory and faith of this person", - V.Lytvyn stated after the meeting.
According to the Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, speaking with such people "inspires to exert every effort to make the memory of these people who protected the Motherland and rebuilt the country eternal". "They shall not be offended by forgetfulness which has lately been spread in the society, as it shortens their age", - V.Lytvyn stated, reminding that 300 thousand participants of combats were living in Ukraine. "Our immense responsibility is to hear these persons and the living history that connects the generations", - he stated.
V.Lytvyn
stated that these people lacked attention. "Their stand as a powerful
moral aspect of the Ukrainian society shall be considered in the process of
discussing and passing public resolutions", - he stressed.
V.Lytvyn presented I.Mayakov with the Honourable Diploma of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and his personal gifts.
